First up, update the window treatments in our living room. While we were very thankful to have coverings on all our windows when we moved in, it was time to remove the vertical blinds and add something with more personality to the front room in our house.
Living Room Before:
Supplies for 2 cornice boxes:
- 1x10x10 piece of plywood
- 12 L brackets with screws
- Staple Gun
- Staples
- Wood Glue
- Batting
- Fabric
We had the wood cut at Lowe's, my new favorite store, and used L brackets and wood glue to attach at 90 degree angles.
Once the wood glue dried, we first covered with batting and then upholstery fabric using the staple gun. While my hand was a little sore the next day from the staple gun, it was easy and fun!
Nate helped with the hanging of the boxes and the curtain rods, but I think he was still impressed with my tool-using skill :)
Living Room After:
We're in love with our updated living room... now I'm in search of the perfect painting for above the sofa. Can't wait for the next project!
